Shellys began life back in the 1950's, and was then just a couple of shoe stores in London. Shellys Shoes first caught the eye and the interest of the public when they supplied the footwear for the band 'The Jam' on their first major tour. The success of the 'Jam' shoes prompted more store openings, and then in 1988, a well known London stylist named Kim Hunt selected some pointy toe, cuban heel zip boots made in the 'Mister' factory in Spain from the Shellys store in Neal Street, for a major photoshoot in British Elle. Suddenly, Shellys was the hippest shoe brand in town, and Neal Street was propelled from a little known backstreet with few retailers to one of the coolest (and now most expensive) retail streets in London! Tie-ins with hot 80's designers such as Katherine Hamnett, John Richmond & John Paul Gaultier followed and Shellys fame grew.
Shellys Shoes and simple recipe for success was "listen to the customer and supply them with what they want". This philosophy, coupled with this new found 'cool', meant that through the 80's & 90's. Shellys Footwear was THE brand in London for hot fashion shoes. Now in it's third season, Shellys is once again attracting the attention of press and celebrities like Robbie Williams, Kylie Minogue and Geri Halliwell. tReds.co.uk stock a wide range of products like Gem, Jeannie.
