5 WAYS TO STYLE YOUR VANS OLD SKOOLS LIKE A FASHIONISTA (INSTAGRAM EDIT)

Do you want to dress like an Old Skool Fashionista? Perhaps you are looking for alternative ways to style your Old Skools? We’ve decided to take to Instagram to find out who has styled their Vans Old Skool trainers the best and to provide you with some top tips on how to become an Old Skool Fashionista.

It’s a great time for our most loved Californian skate brand, Vans, as their classic Old Skool style is poised to be the next big thing. Not only have we seen many of our favourite celebs wearing them (the Kardashians, Kanye and A$AP) but so have some of our most inspirational Instagram idols. According to the brand’s senior director of global footwear merchandising, Dabney Lee, “We are seeing a lot of energy around Old Skools – it’s currently Vans’ fastest growing style.”

How amazing does @Stulina look in her Vans Old Skool trainers? This just goes to show that Vans aren’t just for skateboarding, but they can be worn for a more feminine look too.

A checker high-waisted skirt teamed with a baggy tee is a must try combo for those warmer days. A baggy tee with some sassy text on the front really gives off those street style vibes. Why not accessorise this outfit with a pair of snazzy shades or even a wrist-watch for a touch of detail?

2. A SPORTY STYLE

Vans Old Skools are ideal for sportswear too. @Ju_ribeiros has opted for a subtle yet sporty, all black option with her Vans Old Skool trainers… and why not?! Sportswear has become extremely popular, so why not team yours with a pair of long socks, sport shorts and a baggy off the shoulder top for a more stylish, sporty look?

3. A SMART TWIST

Want to opt for a smarter look? Putting a more formal/smart twist on your Vans Old Skool trainers is easy. Why not team them with a pair of black and white striped trousers, a bomber/blazer jacket and a casual tee? You can also accessorise this outfit with a handbag, shades or silver jewellery for a hint of glam.

 4. A HINT OF DENIM

Bag yourself a pair of mom jeans! They are perfect for this old school style as they were popular back in the 1980’s. Mom jeans have since come back into fashion and are bang on trend this season. They can be styled with a more formal top or even a baggy tee if you want to keep it casual. We love these styles shot by @Stulina and @louise0705

5. A DRESSY LOOK

Who says you can’t wear a pair of trainers with a long dress/skirt? Dressing down an outfit for casual wear is the perfect option. You can look good and feel great in a comfortable pair of Old Skools. Why not style them with a colour that stands out or even a subtle black dress with a touch of bling for added detail?

A pair of Old Skools can be styled with almost anything in your wardrobe and their durability means they can be worn all year round.

Who needs a pair of heels for a night out when you can rock up in a pair of Vans?

What do you think?
